Perl Developer (Front End)
Location: Cardiff
Salary (Band C (IT)): £23,389 - £28,306

Main Team Role:

The Business Solutions Delivery Development Team is looking for individuals with the necessary aptitude to train in skills to develop the current and future elements of various Companies House systems. Working with analysts, customers and support teams is essential to enable requirements to be developed into the IT systems (primarily the front end systems).

The Front End/Web systems are built around the following technologies:

Perl, CSS and HTML. A broad range of skills will be required for the role with training and mentoring being provided to fill any gaps in candidates required skillset and knowledge.

Core & Job Specific Competencies:

Essential

  • Experience developing in an OO language.
  • 2 years sound experience in OO software engineering that can be transferred to a Perl environment.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) with personnel at a variety of levels.
  • Excellent team working and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines whilst dealing with conflicting demands.
  • Ability to pick up new skills quickly and apply them appropriately.
  • Self motivated & enthusiastic.

Desirable

  • Experience of XML services and schemas.
  • Understanding and experience developing for n-tier and middleware systems.
  • Experience developing database driven applications - ANSI SQL.
  • 2 years experience developing with Perl.
  • Some experience of Apache and Linux.
  • Basic knowledge of Java
