PROOF (PROtected Online Filing) Scheme

The PROOF Scheme was launched on January 17 2005 to provide added security for companies filing documents with us. Companies can elect to join the online filing scheme, which improves security by using passwords, confidential authentication codes and recognised email addresses.

Once companies have signed up to PROOF, we will only accept specific statutory forms relating to changes of addresses/director details electronically using our ‘WebFiling’ or ‘Software Filing’ services.

Forms that can be submitted under this scheme:

288a, 288b, 288c and 287 and Annual Return.

WebFiling Service

A registration service, that provides a secure system enabling presenters to submit company information online.

Software Filing

Requires the use of specialised software to file data to Companies House, this service is more appropriate for bulk use.

More information about the WebFiling and Software Filing services.

* Companies House will not accept these forms on paper once a company has joined the scheme, unless the company and its directors authorise it.

To sign up for PROOF, simply register for the WebFiling service, agree to the terms and conditions and select ‘join PROOF'.
