WebFiling ‘Sign in’ and ‘Registration’ Changes

Why has Companies House sent an email to all WebFiling customers?

This is to confirm that Companies House has recently sent out an email to all WebFiling customers to ensure they are kept up to date with planned changes.

We also wanted to inform our customers that further information is available from our website on the improved WebFiling registration process, which is soon to be implemented on our WebFiling service.

The security code would originally have been sent to you as an email, and has always been sent this way. This code only provides confirmation of your email address and does not provide access to any company information.

Company information is accessed via a company authentication code, which is only sent by post to the company's registered office address.

When the new screens are implemented on WebFiling you will need both your email address and security code to initially log in.

Why are you changing the WebFiling sign in and registration process?

These changes are being made to simplify and improve the sign in and registration process, and to increase online protection in response to customer feedback comments and suggestions.

We will improve the service by:

  • Separating the registration and sign in process
  • Introducing a ‘My Account Details’ page - customers will be able to change their email address, security code and to update their registration details for ‘Latest News & Updates’.
  • Providing additional on screen help notes

Subject to successful testing, these new screens are due for implementation later this month.

What will be the main changes to the WebFiling service?

  • The sign in & registration processes will be changed.
  • Customers will be required to enter both an email address and security code to sign in.
  • Registration (step 3) will display the company’s registered office address, and customers must confirm it is correct before proceeding.
  • Menu – ‘My accounts details’ page added. This will enable customers to change their email address, security code and to amend their registration details for ‘Latest News & Updates’.
  • Menu - ‘File for a different company’ option added. This will enable customers to enter a different company number and the company’s authentication code without having to re-enter their email address and security code.
  • ‘Latest News and Updates’ is a service to enable Companies House to provide registered presenters with up to date news on WebFiling, customers are able to opt in or out at any time.

Menu

We have enhanced the ‘Main Menu’. This page will display the company number and company name, and we have added two additional options:

‘File for a different company’ and ‘My account details’.

  • ‘View filing summary’ will enable you to check the transactions you have completed during your current session.
  • ‘File for a different company’ allows the presenter to file for another company without having to re-enter their email address security code.

  • The ‘My account details’ page enables a presenter to change their email address, security code and to amend their registration details for the ‘Latest News and Updates’ service.

  • ‘Company registration details’ replaces ‘Amend registration details’ and enables a presenter to change details related to the company, i.e. cancel or change a company authentication code and register an additional company.

  • ‘Log out’ replaces the ‘Return to Security Log-in screen’.

What is the ‘My account details’ page?

The ‘My account details’ page will enable presenters to change their email address, security code and to amend their registration details for the ‘Latest News and Updates’ service. Presenters were unable to amend these details on the previous system.
